## Fluid Checks

**Coolant:**
Make sure your coolant is rated for freezing temperatures where you live. A 50/50 mix of coolant and water is standard.

**Oil:**
Cold weather thickens oil. Heavier grades (like 10W-30) are better in winter; check your manual.

**Windshield Washer Fluid:**
Use a winter blend rated for sub-zero temperatures to prevent freezing.

## Tires & Battery

**Winter Tires:**
Snow tires improve traction and safety in ice and snow. All-season tires become rigid below 45F and lose grip-winter tires stay flexible.

**Battery:**
Cold reduces battery power by up to 50%. Have ours tested; a 3+ year battery may need replacing.

## Other Essentials

Check brakes, wipers, lights, and belts. Keep an ice scraper, jumper cables, blanket, and flashlight in your vehicle.
