Both send power to all four wheels, but they work differently and suit different needs.

**All-wheel drive (AWD):**
- Automatically splits power between front and rear as needed
- Kicks in mostly during acceleration or slippery moments
- Improves traction on rain, light snow, and loose surfaces
- Always on; no driver control
- Uses slightly more fuel than two-wheel drive
- Best for everyday driving in variable weather

**Four-wheel drive (4WD):**
- Driver selects high or low range, locking front and rear axles together
- Provides maximum traction for serious off-road, deep snow, mud
- Low-range gives crawling power for extreme slopes
- Less fuel efficient when engaged
- Requires active driver engagement
- Built for trucks and true SUVs (Jeep Wrangler, RAM trucks)

**At Castle CDJR:**
Jeep Wranglers and some Grand Cherokees offer genuine 4WD; Jeep Compass and others feature capable AWD. RAMs come in both drivetrains. Our team can match your climate and driving style to the right setup. Call **(219) 250-9487** to explore options.
