Both recalls and technical service bulletins (TSBs) address known vehicle issues-but they're different, and understanding the distinction helps you stay safe and informed.

**Recalls:**
- Mandatory fixes for safety or emissions defects
- Issued by NHTSA (U.S. regulator) or the manufacturer
- The dealer fixes them for free, even out of warranty
- Failure to complete may affect safety or resale
- NHTSA.gov lets you search recalls by VIN

**Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs):**
- Voluntary fixes for non-safety issues (comfort, performance, durability)
- Issued by the manufacturer to address patterns dealers notice
- Dealer performs them at the owner's request or cost (warranty may cover it)
- Not mandatory, but recommended for common concerns
- Useful if you're experiencing a specific problem

**At Castle CDJR of Chesterton:**
Our service team checks for open recalls and applies them at no charge. We also use TSBs to solve recurring issues and improve reliability. When you bring your vehicle in, we verify both.
